Global Spotlight: Internet-Breaking Collaboration Set to Drop This September

Anamika Khanna x H&M Collaboration

Hello Folks,
Close behind their wildly successful designer collection with Korean designer Rok Hwang this spring, H&M has just announced their latest collaboration with Anamika Khanna. Trust us, you’ll want to mark your calendars because these pieces are bound to sell out fast.

H&M has a history of making high fashion more accessible, partnering with a diverse lineup of designers from global luxury brands like Stella McCartney to independent talents in Asia, such as Rokh.

In a recent interview with Vogue, the creative advisor and head of Design at H&M, Ann-Sofie Johansson said, ‘With so few women holding top positions in the fashion world, it’s something we always consider when selecting our collaborators. We strive for gender balance and make a conscious effort to uplift women.”

Building on the buzz from their celebrated 2021 collaboration with Indian couturier Sabyasachi, this new collection with Anamika Khanna is the retail giant’s second exciting venture with an Indian designer.

For over 25 years, Anamika Khanna has captivated couture lovers with her sharp designs, crisp cuts, immaculate craftsmanship, and intricate embroidery. However, she may have inadvertently added to a problem she now calls out herself.

“Fashion in India often gets boxed into wedding wear i.e., events like mehendi, sangeet, and wedding, usually restricting creativity. And so our rich cultural heritage of craft and textile embroideries is sometimes seen as costume, not modern or wearable enough. But times have changed, and this collaboration with H&M allows me to take something inherently Indian and make it global and contemporary. I want to break free from those limitations.” she stated.

And so her latest collection reflects this vision translating her signature embroidery into vibrant prints, paired with easy drapes and comforting kaftans. The jewelry designed with stunning clusters of gold coins, is just as tempting.

Check out these pieces below and get your carts ready! Prices will start at around £40 for earrings and go up to £130 for a kaftan. This collection will be available in selected stores and on hm.com on 5 September 2024.
